EMS Airflow
Realizing prevention and maintenance with a new concept
Removing without causing unnecessary damage to the teeth, using minimal power
Airflow Prophylaxis Master / Airflow One and GBT※1
Airflow Prophylaxis Master / Airflow One was developed and manufactured based on a new concept called GBT.
GBT (GUIDED BIOFILM THERAPY) is a highly satisfactory preventive protocol for patients.

It is an approach aimed at removing biofilm, which is considered the root cause of caries, periodontal disease, and peri-implantitis, to achieve oral and systemic health management. Based on extensive clinical evidence reviewed by scholars, clinicians, and dental hygienists worldwide, it consists of eight protocols advocated by EMS.

The Revolutionary Reasons Behind GBT

1. We approach treatment based on biofilm stained with disclosing solution, so we do not perform unnecessary procedures. Early removal of tartar is possible, and efficient approaches can shorten chair time compared to traditional maintenance methods.

2. By removing biofilm with Airflow at the beginning, we can reduce the use of hand instruments and ultrasonic devices. This reduces anxiety for patients who are uncomfortable with treatment using mechanical sounds or hand instruments. It is also a safe, effective, and minimally invasive maintenance method for tooth surfaces, restorations, and implant restorations.

3. We do not perform tooth surface polishing using rubber cups, brushes, or polishing paste. With Airflow, we can reach areas that are not accessible with rubber cups. Since there is no mechanical stimulation to the gums, we can provide comfortable treatment with reduced discomfort.

Why is polishing paste unnecessary?
  • Residual biofilm before cleaning
The enamel rods of natural teeth are easily recognizable. The photo shows the remnants of bacteria that have been completely eliminated with sodium hypochlorite.※2
  • After "polishing" with low-abrasion paste
The important enamel rods have been polished. The paste has caused damage. The biofilm has spread into natural cracks. Overall, using polishing paste leads to the loss of valuable enamel. There is little improvement in tooth surface.※2
  • After cleaning with Airflow Powder Plus
The biofilm has been removed with Airflow. The surface is clean, even between the enamel rods. There is no abrasion. The enamel rods remain intact, and the surface is very smooth. There is no longer any roughness felt on the teeth with the tongue, and there is no need to polish with polishing paste. Preserve enamel and save chair time.※2
The features of Airflow Prophylaxis Master / Airfl
①The latest model from EMS developed based on GBT
It combines Airflow, Perioflow, and Piezon functions, allowing it to be used according to the patient's oral environment.
②The water temperature management function has 5 levels
The water temperature can be adjusted in 5 levels (non-heated, 25°C, 30°C, 35°C, 40°C), allowing even patients with sensitivity issues to use it with confidence.
③Simple design with high operability
A touch panel is adopted on the operation surface, allowing for easy adjustment of airflow pressure and piezoelectric output with finger slide operation.
④Wireless foot switch
It is equipped with a booster mode, providing instant high output. Due to its circular shape, it activates regardless of where it is pressed in 360 degrees.
⑤Lightweight handpiece
Not only does it reduce hand fatigue, but it also allows for smooth access to the molar region.
Airflow in 2021
he handpiece has been improved.
● Airflow MAX
● 22% reduction in powder usage
● 60% reduction in aerosol
● Reduced jet noise by one-third
● 17% reduction in handpiece weight
● The water particles are linear (as shown in the right diagram)
● The powder injection speed is doubled
● 32% increase in spray field
● Manufacturer's estimate. The figures are just a rough guide.
